With this new feature, we want to offer you even more flexibility – whether you are new to the world of bitcoin and want the security of easily getting rid of your bitcoin, or whether you are already very experienced and are occasionally happy to make a simple sale to get some fiat money to pay bills.
Selling bitcoin with Pocket: simple, secure and flexible
Until now, our focus has been on buying bitcoin that you could transfer directly into your self-custody – whether it was through our website, our app or via our Lightning top-up service. Now, we have expanded our service to include bitcoin sales to offer you even more flexibility. From now on, you can sell your bitcoin with us just as easily as you bought them. The sales proceeds will be transferred directly to your bank account in Swiss francs or euros.
This new feature is primarily aimed at those who want more security when managing their bitcoin. Our goal is to give you, the customer, the freedom not only to store bitcoin securely, but also to convert it back into fiat money quickly and easily.

Fiat directly to your bank account
The process is quite simple. If you have already purchased bitcoin from Pocket, you can start the selling process using one of the services mentioned above.
1️⃣ Enter the amount you want to sell.
2️⃣ Enter your IBAN to which you would like the Fiat amount to be paid.
3️⃣ Confirm your personal data, such as name and address.
✅ Done.
When you sell your bitcoin to Pocket, you will receive the equivalent value in CHF or EUR directly into your bank account.
Seamless integration with the BitBoxApp: buy and sell directly from your hardware wallet
Our partnership with BitBox has been extremely successful. In March 2023, we enabled customers to buy bitcoin directly via the BitBoxApp. Since then, thousands of customers have been using this function regularly.
Now we have further expanded this integration: from now on, you can not only buy bitcoin via the BitBoxApp, but also sell it. You retain full control over your bitcoin and benefit from the highest security standards of a hardware wallet. This allows you to trade bitcoin completely hassle-free – directly from your hardware wallet.
The highest security standards thanks to payment requests (SLIP-24)
With the implementation of the payment request protocol (SLIP-24), we are setting new standards in transaction security together with BitBox. This protocol guarantees that the bitcoin address to which you send your bitcoin is signed by us in advance. This protects against possible manipulation by so-called man-in-the-middle attacks, in which potential attackers try to exchange the receiving address.
This additional layer of security means that BitBox02 users can be confident that their bitcoin will always be sent to the correct address. It also ensures that the payout is made to the correct fiat account by showing you your IBAN directly on the BitBox02 display.
New security standards for bitcoin sales
The integration of payment requests and the display of relevant transaction details directly on the hardware wallet create a completely new dimension of security for bitcoin transactions. This innovative solution makes it possible to sell bitcoin directly via the BitBoxApp without concerns about possible manipulation.
